MG MMM Blue Dog Racing: MG J3763 - A Chequered History (tbc)

In 1932 MG introduced the supercharged version of the popular J2 model, with a 746cc supercharged over head cam engine it was the ideal car for the saturday racer. Win on Sunday sell on Monday.

MG J3 Chassis number J3763 has been in Australia since 1934. After arriving in Australia it was often mistaken for a J4 due to the ENV Gearbox, larger brake drums, outside exhaust, larger Marshall supercharger.

During the early years the car competed at Rob Roy, Philip Island, Ballarat and Albury race meetings with success at the hands of Derry George.

Sellick Beach in South Australia was also on the race agenda.

Over the years the car was modified and gradually deteriorated until being rescued from a chook shed around 1949. The car was used until mid 1960’s when it finally disintegrates with it remaining pieces going on all directions.

In the 1980’s the car is restored and subsequently competed at Geelong Sprints, Rob Roy Hill Climb and at MG national meets.

When the car was acquired an additional chassis came with the vehicle. After investigation it was established that this chassis is the original J3 chassis that was discarded during the restoration as being not repairable.
